Choosing a WhatsApp Business API provider in India

Every BSP quotes a platform fee and hides the markup. The five questions that reveal real cost.

You cannot buy WhatsApp API access from Meta directly. You buy through a Business Solution Provider, and the BSP sits between you and the pricing. Comparing platform fees alone tells you almost nothing.

Five questions that reveal the real number

  • What is the all-in per-message rate including your markup, by template category?
  • Do failed or undelivered messages bill? Get this in writing.
  • What happens to my consent records and message history if I leave?
  • Who owns the WhatsApp Business Account, you or me?
  • What is the template approval turnaround, and who fixes rejections?

The one that matters most

Question four. If the BSP owns the WhatsApp Business Account rather than you, migrating providers means rebuilding your number, your templates and your quality rating from scratch. Insist on owning the WABA even if the provider offers to manage it.

Markup is not the only cost

Some providers charge per message, some per conversation, some a monthly platform fee with bundled volume. Model your own send plan against each structure rather than comparing headline prices. A low per-message rate with a high platform fee loses to the reverse at small volume and wins at large volume.

Template approval is the hidden operational cost

Every marketing template needs Meta approval, and rejections are common on first submission. A provider who reviews your template before submitting saves you days per campaign. Ask how many of their submissions pass first time.
